SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

SCIA (Senior High School) continues to provide a variety of opportunities and platforms to further develop the skills and dispositions of students. SCIA offers a subject combination that not just caters to the students’ interests towards certain subjects but allows students to explore and discover who they want to be and also get them their desired courses in universities. SCIA ensures students have a good foundation across various disciplines, and develop critical thinking, process and communication skills. At the end of Grade 12, students will sit for the Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level & Advanced (A) Level.

What do the senior high school students do?

Classroom Time

Rigorous Teaching & Learning infusing 21st Century Skills (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration) leading to Cambridge AS & A levels.

Lessons begin by setting the expectations for the day. By singing songs, sharing experiences, and reviewing materials together, students are mentally prepared for the day ahead.

Science Lesson

Students learn the importance of science through Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Service Learning

Students develop social responsibilities by taking part in charitable and service- learning activities in the community.

Exchange Programme

Exchange programmes are designed to enhance students’ global awareness and develop their leadership skills, so that they are equipped to make a positive impact globally through vast networking.

Students explore with a wide range of media and materials through drama, dance and visual arts. They learn to develop their own unique styles and appreciate their friends’ creativity.

In a globalised world, students learn about different countries and cultures, and the importance of respecting diversity.

Students enjoy nutritious meals at breakfast, lunch and snack times. Students learn to eat independently whilst proper eating habits and etiquette are reinforced.

Every student is encouraged to perform on stage at least once in a year. This builds confidence and instils a sense of pride and achievement.

SUBJECT DESCRIPTIONS

IELTS

The syllabus allows students to communicate effectively and appropriately. Through their study, students will develop an ability to read and analyse materials, gaining further knowledge and understanding of English language features and issues.

CAMBRIDGE LANGUAGES (CHINESE)

The syllabus builds on the language skills gained at Cambridge IGCSE. Students understand how to use the language in various situations and develop greater fluency, accuracy and confidence.

CAMBRIDGE MATHEMATICS (MATHEMATICS)

Mathematics is essential for all students. The syllabus develops transferable life skills and equips students for progression to higher education and employment.

CAMBRIDGE SCIENCES (BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS)

The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts fundamental to the subject and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Students develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills transferable to any future career path.

CAMBRIDGE HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (ECONOMICS, GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES AND RESEARCH)

The syllabus enables students to widen their knowledge and understanding of the different communities, cultures and timeframe while developing their investigative abilities and their evaluation and decision-making skills.

CAMBRIDGE CREATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (BUSINESS)

The syllabus enables students to understand and appreciate the nature and scope of business and its role in society.

Students may be offered the following subjects during their course of study:

  • 3 A-level subjects + 2 AS-level content subjects, or
  • 4 A-level content subjects One must be a contrasting subject of the 3 A-level and 2 AS-level content subjects.
